A good mattress is vital for healthy living. The perfect mattress will do wonders for the pain you are experiencing in your back. A well designed mattress will improve your disruptive sleep patterns and will do wonders for your stress levels.

If you are pregnant or elderly, a good mattress is essential. We all know the back pains that pregnant women suffer from and the bedsores and back pains that the elderly have to contend with.

The importance of a good night’s sleep can’t be overstated. No one functions well on lack of sleep. The majority of people in the western world are sleep-deprived, and sleep deprivation is a significant cause of accidents. Students who are sleep-deprived learn poorly. Chronic sleep deprivation affects the appetite centers of the brain, causing overeating and subsequent obesity.

Are you suffering from insomnia? Sleeping disorders are the WORST. We all know what it feels like to be be-deviled by lack of sleep, at one time or another. People all the way back in history have bemoaned the trials and tribulations of sleeping disorders.

A few tricks are offered for the one who has mild tossing and turning. For example, he/she is warned not to stay in bed for anything besides, well, in this case, sleeping. I have actually tried out a memory foam mattress and pillow set, and can honestly express my enthusiasm for this product. It feels so much better than a conventional mattress! There are so many advantages to memory foam mattresses over a conventional mattress! It’s hypo-allergenic, molds to fit anyone’s body, and provides some insulation on cold nights so you need fewer heavy, dusty blankets and comforters. And it’s so comfortable, it’s like sleeping on a cloud. All the pressure points that cause discomfort, and subsequent tossing and turning, are eliminated.

Memory foam does this in a very natural and relaxing way. When the body heat hits the mattress, it allows the foam to conform to the body reducing all that tension on the pressure points. No pressure points, no stress, no stress, means getting that good nights’ sleep that we need so badly, to be more productive and happy individuals. Memory foam mattresses keep the load properly supported, so that no one point is favored over any other. Relaxation is the way to a good nights sleep. And memory foam can help the sleeper achieve the ideal night’s rest. While getting tension-less, deep and well relaxed sleep, the individual can be more productive and feel great!

Tempurpedic is the brand name of the pioneer of memory foam, a company in Sweden. It’s a great product, but expensive, and there are dozens of cheaper competing brands, some made in America, some in China or other countries. HOWEVER, be warned: not all memory foam products are alike, as with any merchandise, you tend to get what you pay for, both in quality and longevity. You don’t have to buy top-of-the line products, but don’t buy the cheapest either.

You can research everything you need to know on the internet about buying a memory foam mattress that is right for you. Searching the Net will help you understand what you should be looking for in a memory foam mattress and, most importantly, it will help you pin point the exact bargain price you are willing to pay.

After trying one myself, I think the memory foam mattress is the best mattress for alleviating your stress levels, reducing tension headaches, helping back problems and bed sores and curing disruptive sleep problems.

A memory foam mattress is conducive to a deeper, more restful sleep and gets my vote for health product of the year!

I recently bought a memory foam mattress online from www.novosbed.com and it is honestly the best purchase I’ve made.

I’ve suffered from minor back problems all my life (I got stiff really easily, would pull out my back if I twisted oddly while lifting something) and since I bought this mattress, my back is way less sensitive and I’ve been able to build up my strength by going to the gym without being scared.

The awesome thing too is that my mattress was only $700 and had free shipping (I couldn’t believe it)… customer service was awesome too, and they continue to e-mail me periodically to see how things are going – Novosbed.com is highly recommended

Hi,

I bought a memory foam (visco-elastic) mattress about a month ago; I slept fine, with no pain, on my old spring mattress, but it was past its useful life span. Ever since changing to the memory foam mattress, I have woken up every morning with lower back pain. I have never had this pain before, so assume it is caused by the memory foam. Yet virtually everything I read on the internet tells me that memory foam is the solution to back pain, not the cause thereof.

So I am wondering whether, after 30 days of pain, I am still in an adjustment phase and should persevere; or whether, rather, since the memory foam is causing the pain, I should try something else. Any thoughts?

One of the latest developments in the bedding industry is the introduction of the very new memory foam mattress, which is a perfect product, if you are looking for a good night’s sleep. The memory foam mattress is a form of mattress which has the ability to respond to the changes in the temperature, with the help of memory cells, thereby providing a comfortable experience to the users by having a sound sleep.

The memory foam mattress is made of polyurethane and other chemicals which increases the density of the mattress. Based on the chemicals used, the firmness of the mattress increases with decrease in temperature and decreases with increase in temperature. The memory foam mattress was invented by the NASA to be used in their space missions, but later it was used by the medical fraternity as a remedy for those patients who are bed-ridden and for those who are bound to spend majority of their time in a bed for medical reasons. The pressure relieving property of the mattress comes handy for such patients. The mattress helps the users to have a good sleep at nights and hence to feel better in the morning.

The memory foam mattress is not made only of memory foam but includes a lot of other materials as well. But it is the memory foam that provides the mattress with the unique feature of responding to the changes in the temperature which makes the sleeping experience a comfortable one for the users. The availability of good quality memory foam is still an issue in the bedding industry and hence the availability of the same at affordable prices is also a concern. But changes are imminent and pretty soon such affordable memory foam mattresses would be available for the laymen for use.

A lot of people complain about having back pains while sleeping as regular mattresses are not able to cushion the user’s body effectively. The biggest advantage in having a memory foam mattress is that they are efficient in reducing the back pain of a user during his/her sleeps. Having back pain while sleeping would certainly reduce the comfort of the user. But the memory foam mattress has the unique ability to adjust itself to the temperature and other physical factors thereby making the users feel little or no pain. With a good sleep your energy levels would be higher and this would positively influence your personal disposition on a day. At the same time, good care should be taken to make sure that the memory foam mattress that you purchase is of superior quality and therefore it is imperative for the users to see to it that they are purchasing memory foam mattress from reputable sources to get good quality mattress that would give the user a comfortable slumber.

Should You Purchase a Memory Foam Mattress Or a Memory Foam Mattress Pad?

If you are entering the market and looking for a new mattress you’ve more than likely come across those made with memory foam. Memory foam is gaining popularity by leaps and bounds. It is actually catching up, in popularity, with other types of mattresses such as the innerspring, latex, or air mattresses. A problem that most people run into is the cost of the memory foam mattress. The top of a line foam mattresses tend to run anywhere from $1000 to $6000. For most people looking for a new mattress, this is outside of their budget. So there are a few ways to approach this dilemma. If the bed that you currently sleep on is not so old that you have to throw it out you can purchase a memory foam mattress topper to put on top of it. Or, because of the increasing popularity of the memory foam mattress and the increasing amount of manufacturers that produce it, the price of these mattresses is beginning to fall. So you can find a medium to higher quality memory foam mattress for around $500.

Your Current Bed

Deciding whether not you want to purchase an entire mattress or just a mattress pad can be determined by evaluating your current bed. If your current bed still provides solid support and has only lost a little bit of comfort, you could add a memory foam mattress topper to it to greatly increase the comfort level.

If your mattress is at a stage where it’s lumpy and uncomfortable it may be too far gone for any mattress pad. The mattress pad will reflect the condition of the mattress beneath it. So if you have a lumpy mattress beneath the mattress pad it will also be lumpy. If there is a sag in the middle of the mattress then you want to replace it anyway. A sag or dip in the middle of the mattress can lead to painful problems for your spine (such as neck and back disorders).

So if your current bed still provides a decent level of support you can simply add a mattress topper to it. Mattress toppers provide an affective amount of comfort and support and a cost just a fraction of what a full size memory foam mattress costs.

If you’ve made the decision to go with the topper then what you’ll need to do next is decide what it is exactly that you need to purchase. There are three things you need to consider when purchasing a topper (the same three things you’d need to consider if buying a mattress) which are thickness, density, and softness.

Depending on the support or nature of your current mattress you may want to choose a topper that offers anywhere from 1 inch to 4 inches of thickness. Keep in mind the size that you choose because standard sheets are not designed to cover a mattress that is more than 10 inches in thickness. A topper that is 2 inches thick should be enough to provide the comfort and support that you need.

So base your decision on whether or not you need to purchase a pad or a mattress on how your current bed offers comfort and support.

Full Memory Foam Mattress – Is It The Ultimate Bed?

Memory foam is produced from visco elastic polyurethane foam and has some distinct traits. Lying on a full memory foam mattress will cause it to conform to the body, but it will then return to its initial form, hence the designation memory foam. It was originally produced for NASA in the 1970s, but as production prices dropped it was made available to the public in the 1990s. Since it first became available it has been very popular.

The memory foam mattress topper was the very first product offered publicly, but it did not take very long before the full memory foam mattress was selling like hotcakes as well. Due to its unique character it quickly became a best selling product. As sales continued to climb additional products were produced. Today, there are so many other foam products available to purchase the customer can very easily get confused trying to determine the type that might be perfect for them. We also have the latex mattress which only adds to the confusion. A shopper has to read several memory foam and latex mattress reviews to get an idea of the dissimilarities.

A large amount of the bewilderment with memory foam is due to the many densities and levels of firmness that are for sale. Density is the weight in pounds of a 1 cubic foot piece of foam. If a 1 cubic foot piece is 5 pounds it has a density of 5 pounds. Generally, if the foam is denser it will last longer, but it will not feel as soft.

ILD, also called Indentation Load Deflection, is the way firmness is rated. ILD is the amount of power necessary, calculated in pounds, to bring about a 1 inch indentation in the foam. Measuring ILD is done by taking a 50-inch disc and placing it on top of a piece of foam that is measured at 4 by 15 by 15 inches. The amount of weight in pounds it takes to force the foam down a single inch is its ILD rating. If it requires 14 pounds of load to compress the foam down an inch its ILD rating or score is 14. Bedding that has a lower-numbered ILD rating or score is softer and will indent more.

Lying on a regular spring mattress will cause an increase in the amount of force on specific points such as the hips or shoulders. A memory foam mattress will spread the weight of a person more evenly and over a greater area. This will lessen the percentage of weight in any one area which can lead to a more restful siesta and decreased joint or back discomfort.

One negative aspect to this type of mattress is the price. The selling prices of these kinds of beds can be relatively expensive. This is one reason why the mattress topper is so popular, because it is a great deal less expensive than a full-sized mattress and can be placed on top of the bed you already own. However, because of their thinness they can wear out quicker. If you are not sure about shelling out the extra cash to purchase a full memory foam mattress you can initially start with the bed topper to see if it agrees with you. If you like the feel of the bed topper you can then take the next step and purchase the foam bed.

Memory foam retains heat and is why many individuals do not want it. When someone lies on a foam bed it will in the beginning feel stiff. Later, when the body heat transfers to the foam it will start to soften, which will cause it to conform to the person’s body contour. The area below the heat will remain cooler and less soft, offering great support, while the warm area will be softer and less stiff, providing more comfort. A large number of individuals with lower back pain will find that their discomfort disappears due to sleeping on a full memory foam mattress.
