Choosing the Right Mattress Dimension
When buying a mattress, you may think that bigger is better or smaller will fit better in your bedroom space. However, many people suffer from back or joint pain. Buying a mattress with the right mattress dimension may help reduce your aches and pains. A mattress with the proper mattress dimension will provide you with the proper amount of comfort to help you fall asleep faster and remain asleep for a longer period of time. This will allow you to get a better nights rest and wake up energized, alert and refreshed.
What Mattress Dimension You Require
With the wide variety of mattress dimensions available on the market today, it can be difficult to choose which mattress dimension is right for you. If you suffer from body aches and pains, your choices of mattress dimensions will narrow significantly. A firm mattress will help support your body and relieve aches and pains. The thicker the mattress, the more support it can offer. Some mattresses can be as much as 10 to 11 inches thick.
Also, if you already have a bed frame, you will need to find a mattress that will fit on your current bed frame. A salesperson at a bedding store will be able to direct you to the mattresses with the right mattress dimensions if you can provide the current size of your bed frame. This will be a twin, full, queen or king size. If you purchase a new mattress that is too large or too small for your current bed frame, the mattress may not fit in the frame and will look very wrong.
Tips for Finding the Right Mattress
Ask your doctor what mattress dimensions would provide the best support for your needs. Once you narrow down the mattress dimensions from which you can choose, you will need to know what mattress feels the most comfortable to you. Just feeling a mattress in a store may not be able to give you a proper measure of the comfort level of the mattress.
It can be hard to find a comfortable mattress unless you can try it out. Some mattress stores will allow you to try out the mattress before buying. If you dont like the mattress, you can exchange it for another one or get a refund. Shop around to find a store that offers trial packages before deciding on the mattress you want to buy. Online mattress suppliers often offer trial periods because a buyer cannot test and feel the mattress before buying. A comfortable nights sleep is important, so choosing your mattress should require time and effort if you want a mattress that will really help you sleep.

Mattresses come in a variety of sizes, shapes, firmness, and materials
How many people actually think about their mattress when they are having sleep problems? Most of us blame not sleeping well on stress, and not getting enough hours to commit to Z’s. The quality of your sleep is much more important than the amount of sleep that you get. Having the wrong type of mattress for your body can be affecting your sleep. Don’t rely on sleeping pills and go through the day groggy because you aren’t resting well.
Mattresses come in a variety of sizes, shapes, firmness, and materials. With the proper knowledge and some searching you can find the mattress that is perfect for you. Do you sleep with a partner? You will need to take their needs into consideration as well. There are wonderful mattresses available where you can get each side of the bed with different specifications. This is the ultimate way to ensure both you and your partner will start sleeping better and wake up ready to face whatever comes your way throughout the day.
How do you pick the right mattress for you? Don’t let some high pressure salesman give you a pitch for buying a mattress. Don’t buy the most expensive one or the least expensive one. Take your time and find out what is right for you. The salesman can tell you information but at the end of the day he doesn’t know if you need a soft mattress or a firm mattress, only you do.
It may sound silly, but climb on those display mattresses in the retail locations and get comfortable. Keep a list of the ones you try and what feels good and what doesn’t. These notes will be very helpful later when you start narrowing down your decisions. Of course, you want to make sure any mattress you purchase offers a fair return policy and that it comes with an excellent warranty if you do decide to keep it.
Medical issues can affect how a particular mattress works for you. Keep that in mind when you are looking for one. If you suffer from lower back pain, consider getting a mattress that helps align the neck and spine. This will take pressure off your back while you sleep.
Most of us fall into bed each night without giving our mattress a second thought. Take a moment and assess how well you and your partner are resting. If the answer is not well, it may be time to try a new mattress that meets the comfort needs of both of you. The perfect mattress is out there waiting, leading you down a path of nights full of deep sleep.

Taking care of a Tempur-Pedic mattress is the same as caring for a regular mattress
A Tempur-Pedic mattress is made of materials that help to relieve pressure on your back, spine, and pelvis. It also conforms to fit the shape of your body. The temperature of the material varies as well. This will allow you to sleep the best you can and wake up rejuvenated from a night of deep sleep. It doesn’t matter if you lay down for 8 hours if you only rest for 5!
The Tempur-Pedic mattress relieves pressure from your body so you can sleep better by allowing the heavier parts of your body to sink in deeper than the lighter parts. This results in the correct support for your entire body. Your neck and spine will be aligned, which normally doesn’t happen with a regular mattress. This mattress has been honored by NASA for providing mankind with the technology to live a better quality of life.
Do you suffer from allergies? A Tempur-Pedic mattress can help you control your allergies as well. These mattresses are allergen resistant. You won’t be breathing in dust mites or pet dander that is common on other types of mattresses.
Taking care of a Tempur-Pedic mattress is the same as caring for a regular mattress. Make sure there is enough support for the mattress on the edges and in the middle to keep it in good shape and lasting a long time. The Tempur-Pedic mattress comes in a variety of sizes including twin, queen, and king. This gives you several options for getting the mattress you truly need to sleep comfortably without getting an entire new bedroom set up. There are also adjustable beds that have a Tempur-Pedic mattress. These are a great option for those who have medical issues that need to be addressed.
If you decide to purchase a Tempur-Pedic mattress, make sure you buy a high quality one. Don’t save a few dollars by purchasing an imitation Tempur-Pedic mattress. You will be greatly disappointed at the results. Your Tempur-Pedic mattress will last you at least 10 years. In many cases much longer with basic care.
For those of you who have been struggling to get a good night of sleep, consider changing your mattress. Getting your body aligned properly while you rest will help you achieve a deeper level of sleep as well as wake up rejuvenated. The Tempur-Pedic mattress offers you a money back guarantee. You can also contact them for free information to help you make an informed decision.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress or Sealy TrueForm Mattress – Which Is Best?
Memory foam mattresses are the new sensation in the mattress world and for god reason; theres no doubting the benefits to be had on sleeping on a viscoelastic mattress. The first to manufacture the memory foam mattress was Tempur-Pedic and the company remains the market leader with this type of mattress. But do other brands, like the Sealy TrueForm Mattress, match the Tempur-Pedic mattress in terms of support, comfort and price?
With most comparisons you must try to compare like with like. Some for the following comparisons I will pitch the Tempur-Pedic CelebrityBed mattress to that of the Sealy TrueForm 11 Series mattress. Both of these mattresses are at the high-end of both quality and pricing for both companies. For the lower-end of the price category one should compare the Tempur-Pedic Classic mattress to the Sealy TrueForm 8 Series mattress but I wont compare these models.
First off lets be clear on one point. Both Tempur-Pedic and Sealy have different, patented memory foam; the memory foam is not supplied by a common source rather, both Tempur-Pedic and Sealy have researched, developed and manufacture their own distinct versions. Now lets take a look at both products.
The Tempur-Pedic Mattress
The CelebrityBed mattress is Tempur-Pedics top-end mattress. Its constructed with the Tempur-Pedic AirFlow System (a convoluted HR base), which is comprised of 2 4.3support layers of proprietary TEMPUR material. The convoluted base helps to dissipate body heat, something that was always a problem with memory foam mattress. On top of the AirFlow System comes a 2.8″ base layer (5.3 lb/ft3 density). Finally, you get one, 2 pillow top comfort layer (5.3 lb /ft3 density) memory foam. The mattress itself is contained in a removable cover; 67.5% cotton, 25% polyester, 7.5% cashmere, which can be easily unzipped for washing.
The Sealy TrueForm Mattress
The Sealy memory foam mattress is also multilayered, consisting of 2 layers of foam. The 9 Series from Sealy consists of a 6″ poly core (made of high-density foam), 3.5″ of regular visco (memory foam) and 1.5″ of convoluted visco. The convoluted later of the Sealy TrueForm, like that of the Tempur-Pedic mattress) is designed to draw away body heat. Interestingly the convoluted layer of the Sealy forms the top layer whereas the convoluted layer of the Tempur-Pedic forms the base of the mattress. Which is more effective is hard to say. The Sealy TrueForm 9 Series also comes with a zip-off velour cover with added cashmere.
So how does each mattress compare. The Tempur-Pedic mattress is slightly heavier than the Sealy mattress. However, as neither mattress requires any flipping, weight is not an issue. You can get a box spring for each mattress personally, this is a complete waste of money). However, the Sealy TrueForm mattress is compatible with Sealys PowerBase, so you can adjust the mattress to various positions, program in your favorite positions and even get a massage I prefer to get a massage administered by human hand rather than a machine, but I suppose the Powerbase is great for watching television.
Both mattresses come with a 20 year limited warranty.
The most important question though is which mattress gives the best support and comfort. I have tested both mattresses and can honestly say that I could not rate the Tempur-Pedic mattress over the Sealy, or vice-versa. I have heard some comments that the memory foam used in the Sealy TrueForm mattress is slightly softer than that used in the Tempur-Pedic CelebrityBed I didnt notice this but perhaps Im not as sensitive as some.
In conclusion I would rate the Sealy TrueForm higher than that of the Tempur-Pedic mattress, purely based on price. The Sealy mattress is substantially cheaper than that of the Tempur-Pedic, so why pay more? I sometimes wonder if the high price of a Tempur-Pedic mattress is so high because the company advertizes so much or, perhaps, it believes people will pay more because it is the market leader.

A Guide To Choosing Mattresses
We all love our sleep. In fact, it is the one thing that tends to make the difference between stress free living and a living nightmare where people who suffer lack of sleep are irritable and crabby. Lack of sleep has been responsible for good old-fashioned stress, lack of harmony between spouses, and even family breakdown. So having the best sleep surroundings is absolutely essential to our mental health, as well as out emotional health.
Mattresses are very much part of these sleep surroundings. Choosing a good one, or one that at least meets your needs, is a process that one should not enter into lightly. It is not as simple as choosing one that looks comfortable in the store, for example. It is more about thinking carefully about what you are like as a sleeper, and what you need from the night’s sleep.
First of all, make absolutely sure that you do not compromise and buy something that is obviously cheap and weak looking. A good mattress should last you around ten years, which is an incredible amount of time. If this is the case, it is really no surprise that people are prepared to spend a lot of money on a good quality mattress.
One good thing that you should definitely try and do if you are trying to buy a mattress is to make sure that you visit the store where the mattress is on display and literally try it out. The majority of stores expect you to anyway, so jumping on the mattress (not literally perhaps) and having a good feel for how the mattress feels on your back is definitely something you should insist upon doing. If you are buying a bedstead or frame, you can always ask for the mattress to be placed on that particular frame, to get a real feel for how it will be when you are laying your head down.
When you consider that these things are supposed to last ten years, it really is understandable if you want to test them out. There are other considerations of course, when it comes to buying mattresses, but trying it out in the store is something that people do not initially consider.
So grab the sales assistant, ask them if you can try out the mattress and get the best feel for how the mattress will feel under your back by lying on the thing itself.

Tips on Shopping for a Mattress at a Mattress Warehouse
If you are unable to get a good nights sleep, you wake up the next morning feeling tired and bad-tempered. All your days activities suffer due to this condition and you end up feeling frustrated and way behind time.
There can be many reasons behind an uncomfortable and sleepless night. One of the important factors that contribute to a peaceful sleep is the kind of mattress that suits your needs. The body needs to be properly aligned and in a totally comfortable position in order to relax. Otherwise, something or the other keeps disturbing you throughout the night and as a result your sleep suffers.
If you are having problems sleeping at night then perhaps its time you changed your mattress. Many people think that they can get away with an inexpensive and low-quality mattress because when you are tired from a long days work nothing gets in the way of a peaceful sleep. However, its a totally wrong perception. Similarly, many people buy mattresses from retailers and other stores of the same kind just to buy an inexpensive piece. A good advice is to visit a mattress warehouse store and save hundreds of dollars down the road by enjoying a peaceful and comfortable sleep night after night.
When Do You Need a New Mattress?
Like everything else, there are indications to tell that your mattress needs to be replaced. These signs let you decide that you need a new mattress and a visit to a mattress warehouse becomes a must. Some of these indications are given below.
* When a mattress becomes old, it starts to lose its elasticity. You can tell this by feeling it all over. If its uneven and saggy, it’s time to spend some money on a new one.
* A dying mattress often makes unusual and unpleasant sounds when you move on it. Furthermore, if you have a partner sleeping right next to you, a good mattress doesnt let him or her feel a thing when you leave the bed. If the mattress moves and makes sounds with each and every move you make, it will make it too difficult for the other person to sleep.
* Another sign of a mattress getting old is losing its firmness. You feel comfortable lying at one side of the mattress because it hasnt been used in a long time. On the other hand, the side where you used to sleep is no longer firm and you have a feeling as if somebody is moving the bed when you lie there.
Everything is made with a time frame in mind and after that period it expires. The same is the case with mattresses. Normally, good quality mattresses are made to last for a period of ten years or even longer. But after this duration, they become totally useless and ready to be thrown out. If you think your mattress has lived a longer life than expected, it’s time to pay a mattress warehouse a visit.
What Advantages Does a Mattress Warehouse Offer?
At a mattress warehouse, you have more variety to choose from and can get a fairly good mattress at a very reasonable price. People who run warehouse businesses often buy items from the manufacturers in bulk and therefore get them at a lower than normal cost. This saving in turn is offered to the customers.
Another advantage of shopping at a mattress warehouse is that you can have specialists to give you advice on what you really need. You can even return your old mattresses and box springs to these warehouses and have them recycled.
Points to Consider While Buying a New Mattress
In order to buy a mattress that is comfortable, lasts longer and comes at a reasonable price, keep in mind the following tips while you are at a mattress warehouse.
* Test the mattress by lying over it and see if its even and does not make sounds when you move. Many inexpensive mattresses are the ones that have been recycled to be used again, and therefore you need to be very careful before buying a mattress for yourself.
* Investigate the whole store and have a look at all kinds of mattresses available. Dont judge them by their price; always test their support, firmness and quality.
* Make full use of the services and help offered by the warehouse employees and managers. Ask them the pros and cons of a particular kind of a mattress and whether you should buy it or not. Also make sure you are not missing out on any discount deals or other attractive offers.
* As a final step, ask them to let you have a test nap on one of the mattresses you have chosen. Place it on a box spring and see if its comfortable in all positions. Always prioritize your needs when you go shopping for a mattress at a mattress warehouse. Comfort, correct dimensions, quality and price are some of the factors to consider while choosing a mattress.

Stearns And Foster Mattress – Making Sense Of What’s On Offer
Stearns and Foster claim to make over 1,200 mattress sets. While this may sound impressive the difference between some sets can be extremely minimal and, rather than offering the consumer more choice, causes much confusion. Therefore the best way to be sure of knowing what exactly you’ll be buying, is to ignore the fancy names of the collections and to understand the fundamentals of what makes a Stearns and Foster mattress.
Many consumer mattress ratings are very favorable towards Stearns and Foster mattresses. The problem however, is that the name of the mattress the consumer is referring to can’t be found in a store, either because it’s been discontinued or was a ‘store exclusive mattress’. All mattress companies seem to obfuscate matters by constantly changing the names of their mattresses. Most do this simply to stop consumers being able to compare one mattress against another and to prevent mattress comparison and ratings between different brands.
Best advice is to completely ignore ‘collection’ names and concentrate instead on the actual mattress in the store and determine why it costs what it does and how it compares to another ones and finally, if it offers good value for money.
Stearns and Foster makes 2 types of mattress; the innerspring and latex. For such a large brand it’s strange that it doesn’t make the increasingly popular memory foam mattress. It’s parent company, Sealy, makes a version, so perhaps it will inevitably make one sometime in the future. It should be noted though that the company does use memory foam in some of its mattresses, just not a complete, genuine memory foam mattress.
The company ‘loves’ to sell mattress sets. Mattress sets are comprised of 4 parts; Mattress Style, Comfort Layers, Core Support and Boxspring. The first 3 comprise the mattress and we’ll discuss them first.
The Mattress Style denotes what fabric used to cover the mattress top. It can be anything from synthetic fiber, to Damask, Silk, Cashmere and so forth. The type of fabric used can dramatically increase the cost of the mattress; it doesn’t make it any better or more durable but some do like a ‘beautiful’ mattress. The Mattress Style also refers to the finishing of the top. S and F offers 5 styles; Tight Top, Pillow Top, Euro Pillow Top, Euro Top and Box Top.
The Tight Top is the basic mattress we all know. The Pillow Top is an additional layer of comfort materials that has been stitched on top and has gusseted corners, giving it the look of a flat, large pillow on top of the mattress. The Euro Pillow Top is exactly the same as a Pillow Top but contains even more comfort materials. The Euro Top is a layer of comfort materials but this time, it is attached directly – it looks like two mattresses that have been sewn together; a thick base one with a thin one on top. The Box Top is a thicker version of the Euro Top.
Again, the different types affect the cost. The cost going up in the order mentioned above. These Tops are becoming increasingly fashionable as many seem to like the soft feel of this top layer. However, it should be borne in mind that these Tops increase the cost and are always the first part of the mattress to wear out. There are numerous reports of them developing craters in only a few months of use and when this happens you have to replace the whole mattress to fix the problem. These reports are from all mattress brands.
The next component of the mattress is the Comfort layer. This is the part of the mattress that makes it feel comfortable, obviously. The materials used can range from wool, cotton, foam, latex and memory foam. Whichever is the better material is a personal matter, but obviously things like latex and memory foam are going to add significantly to the cost.
Now, the engine room of any mattress is its Core Support. With a Stearns and Foster mattress you can at least rest assured that you’ll be getting the best. The coils of its innerspring models are 12 3/4″ gauge made from high-carbon steel, making them very durable. Also, the coils are twice tempered which makes them keep their shape for longer.
The company stresses that when you purchase a mattress you should always purchase the boxspring that accompanies it. If you agree then fine but many are of the opinion – and I’m one of them – that boxsprings are a complete waste of money and the only reason mattress companies promote them so heavily is to maximize profits. If I were to buy a mattress that was over 12″ thick and cost thousands of dollars I would sure want it to give me the support I needed without any additional boxspring.
In conclusion, don’t be guided too much by the names of the collections; you’ll get confused and by the time you understand what’s what, the names will have all changed. Instead, concentrate more on how the Stearns and Foster mattress has been made and what materials were used. That way you can decide what you want and then be able to judge for yourself whether it represents value for money. And, if you’ve never thought about buying a memory foam mattress before, try one out and see how it compares.

Queen Size Mattress – Is Bigger Better?
When it comes to mattresses, most people think bigger is better. The largest mattress you can buy varies depending on what part of the world you happen to be in. In the United States, aside from a custom made mattress, the largest standard mattress you can get is a California king size mattress. Bigger is better is not necessarily inaccurate; however, many bedrooms will not fit a California king size mattress or even a regular king size mattress. In these cases, a queen size mattress may be the answer to your problems.
There are five standard mattress sizes: twin (also known as single), full, queen, king and California king. A twin mattress is generally used for children because a twin mattress does not really provide enough space for two adults to sleep comfortably. In order to get a proper night of rest, you need to have enough space to roll and turn throughout the night. The dimensions of a twin bed are only 39 inches wide by 75 inches long.
The Real Difference Between a King and a Queen
A queen size mattress and a king size mattress are both 80 inches in length. This makes the two mattress sizes hard to tell apart, and many people are not sure which is bigger between a queen size mattress and a king size mattress. To make matters worse, the standard mattress widths are not always kept by mattress manufacturers. Custom cut mattresses can be bigger or smaller than standard dimensions specify. A standard queen size mattress should measure in at 60 inches in width. On the other hand, a king size mattress should measure 76 inches wide. However, a custom cut queen size mattress may actually be cut wider than a standard king size mattress. In general, a queen size mattress should be smaller than a king size mattress, though.
What to Look for in a Queen Size Mattress
Due to its size, a queen size mattress can often fit into bedrooms that are too small for a king size mattress while retaining the comfort space that a sleeping couple requires. Both people will need an adequate amount of space to fall asleep and provide for tossing and turning space.
When shopping for any mattress, you need to consider what type of mattress foundation you are looking for, such as coil springs, foam, water or air. Other considerations should include the comfort and firmness of the mattress or the amount of padding provided. A long lasting warranty is important, as well, and the longer the warranty, the higher the quality of the mattress.

Kid’s mattress – points to be remembered
Content of the article:
Shopping for kid’s mattress can be an easy task provided you know what exactly is good and where to get them. There are chances of parents being carried away with the looks of the kid’s beddings. They are, no doubt, very pleasing with attractive colors and feature which might mislead the parents who are out shopping for kids, and maybe for the first time.
Another common mistake what parents make is that in order to save up on little money as they tend to buy large size mattress so that they can be used for long term. This is a very common and wrong decision. There is a lot of difference in kid’s mattress and adult mattress. Right from the infant age till they are in their early teens, kids need special mattress designed keeping their body structure in mind.
Kids are small and their growth rate, physically, is not constant. For toddlers we generally do not buy them fancy mattress. The mattress needs to be firm so as to avoid then from sinking in the bed. Firm mattresses support kids’ growing bodies and reduce their risk of suffocation. We keep changing our kid’s beds as and when they grow. If you are high on budget then buying new beds in every 2 years is quite possible treating your child with the best beds possibly made.
However, if you are not willing to spend unnecessarily on kids beds then you can directly go for twin size beds which can be used for a long term. If you are concerned of your kid’s safety as there can be chances of them to roll down to the floor then get beds with railings. Having a twin size bed will run for long and you might not have to worry about getting a new one till your kid has grown tall enough for a large bed. A twin size bed will also allow you to curl in with your little one.
Also make sure the mattress you buy is dark in color and good in quality. Kids tend to spoil their resting place during sleep and also jump the whole day over it. Dark colors helps in hiding stains and when it is of good quality you can also take the risk of cleaning then with little soap and water. Also as kids grow and their monkey business growing along, a mattress which can bear the wear and tear will help you to maintain it for long.
A good mattress is of utmost importance for your child simply because little bodies need support. When your child receives proper support from his mattress his body will grow better and he will have fewer problems with aches and pains. So, when considering what type of mattress to buy make sure you go with good and trusted brands in kid’s mattress. This way you can be sure your kid would get all the support he needs for a good night’s rest each night so he can wake up refreshed and cause less trouble for you as well.

Not Air Mattress – Air Mattress Bed!
Many are still confused between the difference between an air mattress and an Air Mattress Bed. Air mattresses are great in a pinch but provide minimal comfort and support and are more for portable use rather than a permanent sleep system. Air Mattress Beds not only give you the feeling of sleeping on air, but with the right materials and construction, it can be a very comfortable and supportive, permanent sleep system. Air Mattress Beds also have the unique property of allowing different comfort levels for each partners side of the bed. Priceless!
The idea of sleeping on an air mattress bed was first used in hospitals. Patients who were bed-ridden for extended periods of time were able to rest more comfortably, with fewer pressure points and more even support, than on a regular coil spring hospital bed. It didnt take long before the air mattress beds made their way into the consumer market, allowing the general public an opportunity to benefit from this exciting and revolutionary technology to achieve a better night’s sleep.
With air baffles or chambers in an air mattress bed being the primary method of support, each sleeper can adjust his or her side of the bed to whatever firmness level is most comfortable for them. Why toss and turn with an uncomfortable coils and springs mattress when, with the touch of a button, move into hundreds of relaxing positions. All without creating pressure, stress or strain on your body. Touch a button again and experience a new concept in comfort, while your own personal massage system helps to relieve tired, sore muscles, and reduce everyday tension and fatigue and encourage restful sleep through relaxation.
And with air mattress beds, flipping your mattress is a chore of the past. Over time, with coil and spring mattresses a body impression in the coils will appear if you do not flip your mattress regularly, leading to shorter mattress life. Although some of the comfort materials, like foam rails, ticking and any layered foam in an airbed can take an impression just like any soft material, the air chambers will not. All this leads to years of hassle-free operation and the comfort and convenience to boot.
What to Look For:
Most air mattress beds are constructed in a similar way, using the same basic components. The difference from one manufacturer’s product to another’s is in the design and sophistication of each of these components. The reliability, durability, and quality of these components, and how these components are designed to work together are what make the difference in a top quality product. In all cases, always be sure to check the warranty, good products are usually backed up with a 15-25 year warranty. If you see 3-10 year warranties, keep shopping!
- All air mattress beds use foam rails to surround the air chambers inside the mattress cover. These rails provide the exterior support of the air mattress, giving it its shape and providing the user with the ability to sit on the edge of the bed to put shoes on, etc. The foam rails are absolutely crucial in keeping the air mattress bed corners square and the sides straight and true. Most air mattress bed manufacturers use a straight piece of foam on the side rails, with the ends butting up against each other, this is less desirable as it relies heavily on the mattress cover to provide lateral support for the internal components. — Look for contoured foam rails with concave sides that form a connection and hold the air chambers in place, and actually work in conjunction with the air chambers to keep the mattress square and true. You wont find any instability or bulging with this type of construction.
- Air mattress beds have air chambers or baffles filled with air to provide the main source of support. Most air mattress bed manufacturers use a one piece baffled air chamber system where the air is distributed throughout the air chamber. The problem with this system is that if you like your mattress soft, you can get a “hammock” effect where your hips are below your head and feet. If you like your mattress firm, you can get a “tenting” effect, where your hips are too high. Either scenario puts too much pressure on the back, doesnt provide the spinal alignment you need for a restorative sleep and can cause those nagging aches and pains. — Look for dual air chambers, preferably horizontal. Vertical chambers running the length of the bed can still have a hammock affect. The preferred horizontally constructed chambers form more naturally to your body providing even and comfortable support while helping to keep your head, neck, and spine in alignment. High quality chambers use tough materials and have a lap seam construction and dialectically sealed for stress resistance.
- All air mattress beds come equipped with a pump to get air in and out of the air chambers. This pump and the handheld control allows you to adjust the firmness level on either side of the bed and should have the ability to act as a control system to make adjustments. And a few nice features always help. Many air bed pumps are not that well made and have a tendency to fail at the worst times. — Look for well constructed pumps that can do the job and dont sound like a leaf blower. Commercial grade pumps designed to last for 15,000 hours of continuous use, will do the job but watch for the noise factor. A linear pump means firmness levels can be achieved with a touch of a button with virtually no noise. Allowing comfort levels to be adjusted without waking your partner. Also take a good look at the hand controls, make sure theres two, one for each of you and look to see if theres a preset memory function. This is a convenient way to always end up where you are most comfortable.
Thats the basics of the air mattress bed, but there are a few other items that the highest quality air mattress beds have. — Look for an extra layer of quality base foam to provide better support and shock absorbing capabilities. Also look for a layer of memory foam on top of the air chambers in the casing or as a pillow top. Finally, you want your air mattress bed to look and feel extremely luxurious and comfortable, most high quality air mattress beds are sewn with a premium Belgian Damask ticking and use a pressure relieving jump and tack stitching quilted to one ounce of Angel Hair.
Now that youre armed with the knowledge to shop for an air mattress bed, dont forget to put it in the lineup when its time to shop for that new mattress. Its a must try!!
